Magic World: Main Street U.S.A.

This is where it all begins. Here is where you enter the park, going through the street of an American town at the turn of the Twentieth Century. All around are fictional businesses named after people who helped work on the park and who helped Walt launch his dream, similar to the Magic Kingdom. When you walk towards the gates, you can see the train station, and then when you walk past that, the magical world that is beyond.

After walking through one of two tunnels advertising attractions, you will appear in the Town Square. Here, you can go up to the station and board the Magic World Railroad to Tomorrowland, or board the Omnibus or Horse-Drawn Steetcars to go up the hub. On the right of the flagpole, which is surrounded by a road, is the Town Square theater, where you can watch Mickey's Magical Adventure, an original 30-minute stage show, or meet Mickey himself in his office nearby. On the left of the flagpole is City Hall, which shows the story of Walt Disney and offers help to guests. Also in the Town Square is Walt's American Restaurant, where you can eat American food for lunch or dinner in one of five themed dining rooms full of concept art of the five areas. This is similar to Walt's-an American Restaurant in Disneyland Paris. Around this place is where parades start off, going down to the pub, through Fantasyland, and ending in Frontierland. In the firehouse next to City Hall is where you can begin Magic World Wizards: A Magical Disney Adventure, an interactive self-guided quest where you help Disney Heroes beat Disney Villains, relating to Disney World's Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom.

Going down the street, you will come across a wide range of shops and dining. on the left is the Emporium, which is the park's biggest shop, Tony's Deli, which offers Deli food, Main Street Jewelry, which sells jewelry, 1900 Park Fare, which gives you breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and Jolly Holiday Ice Cream, which sells ice cream. On the right is Disney Clothiers, a clothing store, Photo Parlor, a picture store, Goofy's Candy Co., a candy store, and the Walt Disney Cinema, where classic cartoons play on the big screen. Also around these parts is the Dapper Dan's Barber Shop, and the Dapper Dans themselves sing outside in the streets on select times.

At the pub, a huge road surrounding the pond that the giant Partners Statue stands in, you can find the Plaza Restaurant, and outdoors restaurant selling all kinds of food. On the left side of the pub are the bridges to Tomorrowland, Adventureland, and one path into Fantasyland. On the right are the bridges to Waterfront Square, Frontierland, and another path into Fantasyland. Between the two paths is the Enchanted Fairytale Castle, where fireworks and stage shows are displayed throughout the day. The castle also serves as a passage into Fantasyland.

Developing Main Street was interesting for me. In the book, it is not described much. In Minecraft, it looked nothing like a turn-of-the-century town. It was just a bunch of random buildings that did not go well together in my opinion. In the original Minecraft draft, MicroDisneyland, there was no Main Street at all. I didn't know much about parks then, but I do now. That is why I have re-developed it to look like something from Walt's childhood days, just as any other Main Street would be. I chose to make the Partners Statue here larger so it could serve as a stage in some shows.

  1. I really like this concept I can picture it in my mind as I was reading. I’m curious what an Omnibus is. Maybe like a monorail? Also, I would love to do the Magic World Wizards thing. That’s a funny way to bring a new dimension to the park!

  2. The Omnibus is not like a monorail. It's a big two-decker bus in old fashioned style.
